The Wolds Choir is a group of singers from Wymeswold and the surrounding villages of Burton on the Wolds, Hoton, Prestwold and Wysall. The choir is around 30 strong, and performs two or three concerts per year.
The choir has built up a good reputation in the local area for the quality of its singing, however there is no pre-requisite knowledge of music required, apart from a basic ability to sing in tune. All pieces are taught to the choir at practice nights, which are on Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 9pm at the Methodist Church in Wymeswold. New members are welcome if they can commit to regular attendance.

We will be performing a concert of pieces, including Vivaldi's "Gloria", in conjunction with the Willoughby Choir. It will be performed in two venues, one local to each Choir, after Easter. The organ at St. Mary's is being repaired for a month after Easter, and additonal works on the windows mean that this venue is not available to us. Accordingly we will be performing in St. Andrew's Church, Prestwold, on Wed May 26th, with a previous performance at St. Mary's Willoughby on Mon 24th.
Final joint Rehearsal will be in Prestwold on 19th May, and there will be also be a joint rehearsal at Willoughby (date to be advised). A list of pieces follows. For practice purposes, if you click on the Gloria below (and a few of the others, if underlined) it will take you to a site where you can hear each part or the whole of each piece.

I mentioned at the last rehearsal that our organist, Ken, has had a heart attack and although he is recovering OK, he is not in a position to be playing for 6 weeks. I am pleased to say that Margaret has contacted a local organist who is willing to play with us, and out thanks go to both of them for helping out!
