Over the last two weeks, Ackroyd Construction and our architect, Mark Stewart, have been taking up the roof, stripping off concrete guttering and looking at the state of the woodwork.
The good news: the external roof boards are in good condition.
Not so good news: at the south west end, the end of the principal rafter has turned to dust, probably a result of wet rot.
The examination continues for dry rot fungus. There are traces of dead dry rot, but it remains to be seen as to where it goes… Once all the problems have been identified and removed, the reconstruction will commence.
