Wymeswold’s run halted
Wymeswold’s winning run came to an end with a 27-run defeat at near-neighbours Hickling in Division D of the South Notts Cricket League.
The home side batted first and raced to 197 for 5 in 40 overs with spinner Jack Shelton taking 2 for 30.
In reply, skipper Rob Pitman top-scored with 37 but Wymeswold’s other batsmen were unable to push on. Toby Smith hit 27, Paul Brain made 22 and Charlie Raynes was 22 not out as the Wolds side were bowled out for 170 in the 39th over.
Meanwhile in Division L of the league Wymeswold’s second team coincidentally also lost out by 27 runs, this time at home to Thrumpton seconds.
The visitors batted first and reached 163 for 5 in 36 overs, with Dwight Bent being the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 for 29.
However, the 29 extras conceded proved the difference as Wymeswold’s batsmen were 136 all out in reply, with Pete Shaw (28), Alfie Dunton (29) and James Walker (25) all making contributions.
