Wymeswold Preschool has been caring for and educating children for over 50 years. We are a registered charity run by a committee of parents in partnership with paid staff. We are Ofsted registered and are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.
We are located in Wymeswold Memorial Hall in Wymeswold village, where we offer childcare and preschool education for children from 2 years to school age. We also have close links with Wymeswold Primary School.
At Wymeswold Preschool our mission is to provide a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe. We offer a variety of activities specifically designed to encourage each child’s individual growth. Through cooperative and creative play our children reach their social, emotional and physical milestones naturally and with ease.
We aim to provide quality care and education by following the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, enabling our children to learn and develop in a fun and stimulating environment. When we expose children to different surroundings and varied learning experiences, we allow them to explore their self-awareness and gain a sense of the world around them.
We offer fortnightly Forest School sessions for our children to experience. These are run by a fully qualified Forest School teacher.
Forest school is an ethos which encourages the development of children’s emotional and physical skills and intelligence through outdoor play, activities and exploration in a woodland environment. The philosophy of Forest School is to encourage and inspire children of any age through positive experiences that are engaging and motivating. Each session is different and varies week by week.
Forest School runs every other Wednesday, allowing our children to benefit from the amazing experiences these sessions provide. We are lucky enough to have access to the village Scout hut and grounds which is where we run our Forest School sessions. Some of our Forest School activities include putting up shelters, scavenger hunts, creating bug hotels, making rope ladders, enjoying hot chocolate and campfire treats and of course, having lots of fun!
